In-house training for professionals
Who is it aimed at?
This workshop is suitable for health and social care professionals who have a client caseload including people who have survived acquired brain injury and their carers. The training compliments the Quality Requirements of the 2005 National Service Framework for Long Term Conditions in terms of support given to brain injury survivors and their carers. To this end it focuses on what will be required of professionals.
Headway is the UK's leading brain injury charity providing information about the effects of brain injury, support for carers, families and interested professionals and a campaigning voice for effective legislation and practical solutions to meet this healthcare challenge.
This training event is a one-day interactive workshop on understanding and gaining insight into acquired brain injury and its physical, cognitive, behavioural and emotional effects. Brain injury is often referred to as the 'hidden disability', as the difficulties arising from it are not immediately obvious to other people. A course training pack is included with the event.
This workshop explains brain anatomy and physiology and the causes and effects of traumatic brain injuries not just on the individual but also on their family. In addition we will relate this challenging and long-term condition to the casework of the course participants, providing them with practical strategies for working with families. The course will also include the carer's perspective of living with brain injury. The course participants will be able to apply their new knowledge to the assessment of their client's needs.
In order to be efficient with your time and travelling costs, we can deliver the Understanding Brain Injury workshop to your staff at your premises or chosen training venue. The training day will run between 9.30 am and 4.00 pm. A certificate of attendance will be provided to the participants who attend the entire day and who complete the evaluation form. The host organisation will need to provide a suitable training venue and refreshments.
