A Nottingham charity is £1,000 better off thanks to two art sales and exhibitions held in the city.

Headway Nottingham, the brain injury day centre, received the boost when another registered charity, Art Aid, organised events at premises on Mansfield Road and Nottingham Road.

A huge selection of donated original art was on show with proceeds going to Headway - along with a selection of prints and easels.

Paul Smith, a trustee of Art Aid said: "We support charities and other organisations undertaking charitable activities by promoting public appreciation, understanding and education in the arts and this was the second time we have linked up with Headway, initially in Preston and now in Nottingham. We are delighted to be able to assist in the great work they do."

Rhiana Lakin, fundraiser at Headway, Nottingham, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Art Aid for their support and generosity. With help like this we can continue to provide a voice for people with brain injuries in our community and help them live a life which is not defined by disability."
