Researchers from the University of Sunderland are calling for people for three separate research studies 

1. Loneliness in Lockdown: An exploration of the barriers and protective factors in a clinical and neurotypical sample.

What is the purpose of this study?

The aim of the study is to explore people’s protective factors and risk of loneliness during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown 2020.

Who can take part in the study?

You are eligible to take part in the study if you are over 16 years old.

Do I have to take part?

Participation is voluntary.  If you change your mind about taking part in the study, you can withdraw at any time during the session or up to two weeks after without giving a reason and without penalty.  You can withdraw by contacting me by email and providing me with your participant code.

What will happen to me if I take part?

There are two parts to this study, all participants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire regarding your social connections and resilience.  The questionnaire will take approximately 10 minutes.  At the end of the questionnaire you will have the option to put yourself forward for the second part of the study which will be a short interview to gather further details regarding your experiences of the Covid national lockdown.  The interview will take approximately 10-15 minutes.

2. Study Title: Loneliness among Stroke Survivors

What is the purpose of the study?

The purpose of this study is to understand the impact of loneliness in stroke. You will be asked a number of different questions to understand your views on loneliness. 

Who can take part in the study?

You are eligible to take part in this study if you are over 18 years old and have suffered a stroke.

Do I have to take part?

Participation is entirely voluntary. If you change your mind about taking part in the study, you can withdraw at any point by closing the web browser.

What will happen to me if I take part?

If you agree to take part in this study, you will be asked to answer a number of questions relating to your current feelings. It is expected that this will take no longer than 10 minutes.

3. Study Title:Improving post-stroke rehabilitation: The effect of social motivators on engagement in post-stroke visual rehabilitation

What is the purpose of the study?

The purpose of the study is to find out what the users of rehabilitation services (i.e. stroke survivors, carers of those who have had a stroke, and professionals involved in their care) think is important to include in a rehabilitation tool.

Who can take part in the study?

Stroke survivors, carers of those with stroke and professionals involved in the care of those who have had a stroke.

Do I have to take part?

Participation is entirely voluntary. If you change your mind about taking part in the study,you can withdraw atany point during the sessionwithout giving a reason and without penalty.  After you have completed the study, you can also withdraw your consent for your data to be included by contacting me via emailwithin 2 weeks of participationand providing me with your participant code. The participant code will be given to you after you have consented to take part in the study. If you decide to withdraw during the study or in the subsequent 2 week period, your data will be destroyed and will not be used in the study.

What will happen to me if I take part?

You will be asked a series of questions based on your views and experiences of stroke rehabilitation. Answers will be either a rating (1 to 7) or a yes/no response.
