Crimewatch covers cycle safety campaign

Wed 23 Sep 2020

BBC One’s Crimewatch Roadshow invited Headway and the lead case study of our #CycleSafety campaign onto the show to talk about the importance of cycle helmets and staying safe on your bike.

Headway’s Chief Executive, Peter McCabe spoke to Rav Wilding about the role of cycle helmets in protecting our head and brains, while former police officer and brain injury survivor David Baker shared his own personal experiences.

Talking on the show, Peter said: “A cycle accident can happen and cause a brain injury at any time.

“When you take your laptop out, you put it in a case with padding to protect it. The most precious computer you will ever own is the one between your ears so why wouldn’t you take the same precautions with your own brain, or indeed, that of your children.”
