Headway talks e-scooter safety with Phil and Holly

Headway’s Deputy Chief Executive Luke Griggs was interviewed by dynamic duo Phil and Holly on This Morning where, along with Alice Beer, they discussed electric scooter use and Headway’s suggestions to make them safer.

Phil, who shared his personal experiences after an extended family member had an incident on a bike and sustained a life changing brain injury, felt strongly about making helmets compulsory when riding e-scooters and bikes.

Speaking on the popular chat show, Luke said: “We support numerous people to rebuild their lives after devastating brain injury - which you yourself will know Phil - can be life long and can affect not just the individual, but the rest of the family as well.

“It can change who you are, what you can do and the very course and path of your life. Now that can be avoided – and if it can be avoided by the simple notion of putting on a helmet, why on earth wouldn’t you?”

Headway has submitted a consultation to the Department for Transport in relation to e-scooter trials which are currently taking place across various locations in the UK which calls for:
