The inpatient service is commissioned within Merseyside to provide short-term (typically 8-12 weeks) post-acute rehabilitation, due to non-progressive conditions.
Within the regional trauma network, the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre offers in-patient cognitive-behavioural / functional rehabilitation to individuals who have a greater level of independence (typically more independently mobile and less physically dependent) than those served by the regional trauma centre. It can provide both a ‘step down’ from acute hospitals, and provide re-access to rehabilitation from community settings, when required.
