Further information
Headway East London (www.headwayeastlondon.org) is a charity supporting people affected by brain injury. Working across 13 London boroughs we offer a unique, fully integrated service designed to encourage co-production, respect and empowerment. Traditional therapies, rehabilitation and support work sit alongside our day service, Headway House, a community venue where people can make the most of their abilities and interests, from art (www.submittolovestudios.org) to writing to food projects and beyond. We believe that every person with a brain injury should be given the opportunity to lead a full and active life.
Our main aims within the organisation are to promote:
· Respect: the distinctive worth of every person
· Co-Production: all people have something to contribute to Headway East London and the community
· Empowerment: Support and challenge people to take personal responsibility for themselves and lead fulfilling lives within the community
· Activism: Challenging preconceptions, pushing for policy change and asking difficult questions
"Nothing but positivity. I could be not feeling in the right frame of mind, but as soon as I come in, my mood lifts, I feel happy. I feel like I'm surrounded by my people." - Headway member
