For brain injury survivors and their families, the current crisis is made even more challenging by effects such as memory problems, impaired reasoning, anxiety and difficulties coping with change.
Emotional and behavioural issues such as irritability, frustration and anxiety can make social isolation as a result of the coronavirus pandemic hard to cope with.
We’re doing all we can to support brain injury survivors during this time – but we need your help!
Our nurse-led helpline continues to be there to help alleviate the social isolation being felt by this vulnerable group, easing their fears and ensuring they have someone who understands to talk to.
We’re also continuing to support our network of groups and branches, which are all finding creative ways to continue to provide support sessions via digital means despite significant financial and operational pressures. They too urgently need your help. (See below to find out how you can support your local Headway!)
Can you help?
As a charity that relies on voluntary donations, we now need your help to cope with a severe reduction in our fundraising income as a result of coronavirus. The weeks and months ahead are going to be challenging and we are anticipating a potential drop of £2 million in income this year.
The coronavirus pandemic is unlike anything we’ve ever had to face. Our 30 shops have temporarily closed their doors and community fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed.
However, brain injury survivors and their families need our support today. Please help Headway to continue to provide our support and services during these challenging times.
Please donate today to help us reach people living with the effects of a brain injury:
Local support
Headway groups across the UK are going to extraordinary lengths to support those in their communities that need their help.
Most of these groups, which are independent charities affiliated to Headway – the brain injury association, are facing equally challenging financial circumstances.
They too need urgent help in order to survive.
If you would like to donate to your local Headway group or branch, your can find their details here.
