For more than 25 years Headway Derby has been supporting brain injury survivors, their families and carers – and has continued to do so during these challenging times.
As the pandemic hit, the charity transformed its services overnight and has since been delivering them on an online basis. This includes running the popular women’s group, education course and movement and mindfulness sessions.
To recognise their incredible and resilient work, Margaret Beckett MP has nominated them for Western Power Distribution’s In This Together - Community Matters Fund, and the charity now stands a chance of being awarded £1,500 to continue its vital work.
Ms Beckett said: “Headway Derby has shown incredible dedication and resilience in continuing its important work to support those affected by brain injury in the community. The way in which the charity has adapted during these unprecedented times has been truly inspirational to see.
“I greatly appreciate all the work done by Headway Derby in supporting people in my constituency living with the life-changing effects of brain injury.”
Rebecca Manship, Operations and Development Manager at Headway Derby, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Margaret Beckett for putting us forward for this great opportunity.
“In these extraordinary times we are committed to delivering an extraordinary response. Our main concern is, and always will be the welfare, health and support of our members.
“Our hope is that those affected by brain injury know they have somewhere to turn to. Headway Derby always has, and always will do its very best to support brain injury survivors and their loved ones during their time in need.”Back
