Once a year, Headway's members, friends and supporters come together to pay tribute to some very special people: brain injury survivors, carers, volunteers and campaigners whose personal achievements have earned the admiration of everyone around them. Their stories are moving and inspirational.

The Carer of the Year Award, sponsored by Barr Ellison Solicitors, celebrates the incredible dedication and devotion of those who care for people with a brain injury. Our finalists represent thousands of others across the UK who day-in, day-out demonstrate admirable determination to prove that there can be life after brain injury.

WINNER: Tina Wescott

Larry and Tina

A Bristolian mother who had to give up her career in her twenties to become a full-time carer has been shortlisted for a national award.

Janie Ferrier

Janie and Nick

A mother from Worcester who fought tirelessly to ensure her son got the best possible care following his brain injury has been shortlisted for a national award.

Jackie Flavell

Luke and Jackie

A mother from Dudley who has not only dedicated the past eight years to caring for her son after he sustained a life-changing brain injury but who also helped set up a support group to help others, has been shortlisted for a national award.
