The Stewarts Foundation wins special award

Fri 06 Dec 2019

The Stewarts Foundation has received a special award from the brain injury charity Headway for its support of a project which provides an invaluable service to the families of brain injury survivors.

The firm was presented with a Trustees’ Special Award, to mark the 40th Anniversary of Headway – the brain injury association, at the charity’s Annual Awards luncheon on Friday 6th December.

It received the award for its consistent support of the charity’s Emergency Fund, which provides grants of up to £500 to help survivors and their families cope with the sudden practical implications which often arise following a brain injury.

Since 2011, The Stewarts Foundation has provided grants totalling £365,000 to the Fund. Most of the grants made by the Emergency Fund are used to provide travel and accommodation for families to enable them to be at the bedside of a loved one.

Andrew Green, Chairman of Headway – the brain injury association, said he was delighted to recognise the contribution of the Stewarts Foundation and thanked it for its commitment in helping Headway provide vital help to families.

He said: “The Stewarts Foundation has enabled the Emergency Fund to deliver assistance to thousands of families across the UK at the most difficult of times.

“We know what a difference the Emergency Fund makes to those families dealing with the unexpected financial pressure that a sudden acquired brain injury can bring. The support of the Stewarts Foundation has been crucial for the fund and we are pleased to acknowledge its significant contribution.”

Paul Paxton, a Trustee of The Stewarts Foundation, said: “The Stewarts Foundation is honoured to receive this special award.

“We understand the dramatic impact that a brain injury can have on the finances of families. It is important for those critically ill to have the support of their families at such a difficult time. That is why we are happy to support this vital initiative.”
